I honestly can't thank Ray enough for his care and support throughout my time learning with him. I already had some driving experience before I started with Ray, so unfortunately he had to work out my bad habits, but with his guidance I quickly progressed and my confidence grew alongside. My learning was well structured so as to not overwhelm me, and Ray was more than happy to listen to my concerns, setting up extra practice with areas I felt needed addressing. I've finally passed my test at a later age than most (42) - massive credit to Ray! I looked forward to my driving lessons with him (this has never happened before with other instructors) and within a few weeks of driving with Ray I was confident enough to go out practicing with hubby and my 3 girls as passengers in the back. He maintains a great balance of cheerfulness, encouragement, and precise instruction. He is calm and collected, and I always felt incredibly safe driving around the test routes of Exeter with him alongside. For younger learners and middle age alike, Ray is my 'driving angel' and can become yours too. I highly recommend him to all age groups and all driving abilities. Thank you so much lovely.

Today on Friday the 13th, Emily has passed her practical driving test on her first attempt, with only 2 driver faults. So, as Friday the 13th goes its not unlucky for Emily, but yet again she didn't need luck. It has been an absolute pleasure teaching Emily to drive and help her with her confidence. She had a big hill to climb, but we made it. Take care and stay safe.
Here you go Ray: I really can’t recommend Ray enough for helping me pass my driving test and for learning such valuable skills. I was very nervous to start with and he really helped me gain my confidence back. His techniques helped me massively to learn specific manoeuvres which I will certainly be using going forward. He’s great at putting you at ease and making you feel comfortable and confident without rushing you. Without Ray I’m not sure I would have passed first time or feel as comfortable/confident behind the wheel with my little boy in the car as I now do. Thanks for everything Ray! Hope that’s ok!

It is almost one year to the day that I met Ray McFadden. When I first met him I had no idea how much influence he would have on my driving career. He carefully navigated me through the why's and wherefores of driving, and if you knew me, then you would know what a hard task that would be! I have been through several instructors and none have made me feel as confident and secure in my driving and technique as Ray. I am over the moon to have passed first time and with only two minors, and a really happy examiner, and I am so happy to be starting my driving life with Ray's voice in my ear

I cannot recommend Ray enough as a driving instructor. He is friendly, supportive and kept my nerves at bay as a learner. Any mistakes i made he would calmly explain what i should do next time but congratulate me on making independent decisions, which really helped with my confidence behind the wheel.
Ray is so much better than the other instructors i have had previously. He always explained why he was telling me to do manoeuvres a certain way, which helped me understand and be able to make the decisions myself in future. He never made me feel like any questions i asked were silly and was always happy to explain things more than once if i needed it.
Everyone should learn with Ray, he is incredible at his job!

Ray is an incredible driving instructor and person. I was a rather hesitant, distract-able nightmare of a driver until I met Ray, he’s patient, understanding and takes time to make sure you fully understand what your doing and why your doing it . He made me so much more confident as a driver and for that I can’t thank him enough, to top it all off Ray is a truly lovely person which a with sense of humour and a great singing voice. He achieved the miracle of getting me to pass my test, I’ve also made a firm family friend and will miss my lessons so much .

Thank you so much to Ray for all you’ve done over the past year and a half, which got me a PASS in my driving test today. The best driving instructor I’ve had! Venturing back to the first lesson, I was super nervous, but with his help and skills, I’ve learnt to build my confidence over time. This has, in the end resulted in me passing my driving test with no faults! It’s been quite a journey to get to this point in the face of the pandemic, but we got there due to his skills and patience. I’ve genuinely enjoyed each and every lesson, helping to make me feel comfortable certainly helped. I’m grateful for all that he has done for me. Highly recommend RGM tuition!

When I first contacted Ray to ask if he would be willing to teach a teenager with autism, he had no qualms in instantly saying, "yes let's book a lesson and see how we get on". He helped my son relax and feel confident to drive. He said it would take a little longer than some, but was confident we could get him through his test and he did! he's become a great friend to the family, he also taught my older son who passed his test on his first attempt. I would recommend him to anyone wishing to learn to drive.

What a journey it was! Looking back to the very first driving lessons when I was so shy, stressed and quiet. You have reach out and gone beyond all expectations to make me feel confident, comfortable and overcome the language barrier.
It's great how, as a driving instructor, you would take your time and make sure that I understand everything. Setting a challenge and standards from one lesson to another, always encouraging and ensuring that I'm safe and capable.
Thank you for taking your time and making me believe in my self. Honestly I wouldn't have been able to do any of it without your support and perseverance. It's been amazing seeing you each week and will definitely miss that time.

DAN'S REVIEW
When I first started learning to drive I found it extremely challenging, my co-ordination and extremely nervous disposition made me a rather slow learner. I'm not a natural driver at all - it was reflected in my early lessons that my ability to pick up this new skill was somewhat difficult.
Ray was extremely patient when teaching me; the experience he's got is extraordinary. I remember my first lesson where he reassured me of his driving prowess- and showed me a range of licenses and listed all the vehicles (even planes and boats) that he can drive. From then on I knew I was with a safe pair of hands, someone who knew a lot about what they were doing and many, many years worth of experience.
Ray constantly pushed me every week, ensuring I was getting the very most out of my lessons. I needed more than the average learner, and Ray was patient with me- never raised his voice in anger or frustration, always polite, calm and controlled. But also a friend, I'd look forward to finishing work to hang out and drive with Ray.
He'll genuinely be interested in personal and work life, and would do anything to help and ensure that I was happy even outside my lesson. It's been a long journey that we both worked hard to achieve, every step of the way Ray was behind me and not willing to give up. He genuinely wanted me to pass as soon as possible, he'd cram a lot into lessons. By the time test day approached
I knew we'd covered everything. There were difficult times in the early stages, I've come a long way to have passed my test, it was probably the hardest most challenging test I've had to sit, but I was prepared for it, and confident in passing it, all thanks to Ray.
I hope to remain in contact with him in the future- and sincerely recommend him to anyone, any age, or experience - Ray is great instructor and a great guy all round.

From the first moment of getting behind the wheel in Rays car he made me feel relaxed and comfortable. He is a very kind and knowledgeable instructor with years of experience in all types of vehicles and driving techniques. It was very obvious that Ray really cares about his students and goes that extra mile to achieve high standards above what is needed for the test. I would strongly recommend him to anyone especially if you suffer with a nervous disposition. I achieved my goal and surpassed my expectations by passing my test the first time with only 2 minor faults. This is all due to the dedication from Ray in teaching me to drive for life, not just for the test.
